Cleaning Carpet Pet Stains
You play with them, you pet them, you feed them, and care for them, but a common problem for many pet owners is the mess. No one wants to come home from an arduous day of work to a carpet littered with mess. Pet trainers, kennels, or always being home to let out the dog is not for everyone, nor does it need to be! But something has to be done for maintaining a clean looking and smelling carpet.
Removing the odor from the area is not only important for your benefit but also for making sure that the occurrence doesn’t repeat itself. As long as the scent remains, it is an attractive spot to continue to claim territory. Having the carpets cleaned will do the trick, but here is a guide to clean up the spot yourself!

For a mess that is still damp:
  • Place a thick stack of paper towels or newspapers onto the area and soak up as much of the mess as possible.
  • Stand on the stack of paper for about a minute and then strategically place the wet paper in the desired spot for your pet’s mess.
  • Next, mix one quart of warm water with half a cup of white vinegar. Pour the mixture across the area and then put down a clean set of paper towels or newspapers.
  • Place a heavy object over the paper such as books and let the concoction absorb into the carpet for two to three hours.
  • Finally, remove the stack of papers once again. If you own a wet vacuum, take that to the area. If not, rinse the area with some cold water.

For an older mess:
  • If you own a wet vacuum, take this to the area. If not, rinse the area with some cold water.
  • Next, mix two thirds a cup of warm water with one third a cup of white vinegar. Pour the mixture across the area and take a clean set of paper towels to blot the concoction into the spot.
  • Finally, either use the wet vacuum once more or rinse the area with some cold water.

There is no reason that you, your pet, and your carpet can’t all be the happiest and cleanliest gang around!
